New features and improvements:

  • Samsung: we're now supporting official Samsung firmware format in Qualcomm's Update Firmware from EDL mode
  • Samsung MTK: improved Samsung's Soft Brick solution for even safer operation
  • Huawei Hisi: Read and Write Cert procedure is now also available from Factory Mode
  • Huawei Hisi: added Read and Write Cert procedure for older SoC types via Factory Fastboot
  • Huawei Hisi: added a new validation key for Huawei APP file validation to fix "Firmware validation failed" errors
  • Generic Qualcomm: 50 new programmers added for many Huawei, Honor, Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo, Meizu, OnePlus and ZTE devices
  • Generic MTK: refined error messages when handling EXT4 filesystem

Bugfixes:

  • Samsung: fixed a downloader bug, that could cause application crash/freeze when downloading Samsung firmwares

  • Samsung: Samsung MTK procedures are now disabled if MTK driver isn't available, to avoid undetectable phones after Soft Bricking
  • Samsung: additional security checks were implemented, before Soft Bricking
  • MTK: increased waiting times during MTK bootrom mode communication
  • Motorola: added Boot Repair function for MTK phones
  • Qualcomm: improved stability when communicating via Firehose protocol

Bugfixes:

  • Samsung: fixed a bug in the Download Manager (Samsung downloader wasn't available)
  • Samsung: fixed a bug when restarting from ODIN mode into bootrom mode
  • MTK: fixed a bug in generic MTK's Store/Restore Backup procedure

Samsung MTK:

Without Test Point: Chimera can automatically change to bootrom mode (soft brick) for most Samsung MTK models (if possible)! We always focused on easy and user friendly solutions and this update means that you can service a lot more devices with Chimera just using a cable, without hardware disassemble.

  • Automatically fix devices with damaged GPT (bricked)
  • Added a new Set Knox Guard State procedure
  • Major changes were done in the Samsung module to help future improvements

Generic MTK:

  • Various improvements were implemented for the Repair IMEI procedure

Generic Qualcomm:

  • Retry programmer selection and resend automatically where it's possible (without using the test point again)
  • Added a new warning dialog to reconnect the battery after a successful programmer upload
  • Added a new fail-safe mechanism to communicate with programmers that do not strictly comply with the firehose protocol

 

Improvements and bugfixes:

  • Core: fixed a bug when reporting procedure logs to our server
  • Core: added a generic Get Info procedure for phones in normal mode
  • Xiaomi: improved Update Firmware procedure (in Fastboot mode) to support recent firmware versions
  • LG: added magnet link support for LG Firmware downloads
  • Huawei: added Factory Reset option to Huawei's RPMB Backup/Restore procedure

Massive Qualcomm EDL Refactor

It took us over 6 months to test and refine but now our Qualcomm EDL module refactor is released and live. Using official documentation, and a lot of experience and data from previous procedures, we are excited to present our refactored features:

  • New CPU identification logics
  • Automatic programmer selection: completely rewritten analysis and assignment logics to ensure that Chimera always selects the correct programmer for every device
  • New programmers: by now we have over 7200 verified and categorised programmers for more than 150 brands

Bugfixes:

  • Xiaomi: fixed a bug in Patch IMEI procedure for MTK SoC (mainly Redmi Note 11S 4G/POCO M4 Pro 4G /fleur/ was affected)

  • MTK: added OFP file support for Update Firmware for Oppo phones
  • Motorola: we're hosting blankflash files for Motorola's Boot Repair procedure from now (files can be downloaded from both the Boot Repair's procedure panel and from the Downloads menu as well)
  • LG: added Root procedure for LG devices with MTK SoCs (from bootrom mode)
  • Utility panel: a list of supported file types (firmware pack types) is now shown on the Firmware Extactor panel

  • Samsung: added Phone Info procedure for devices connected in modem mode (when adb/normal mode is not available)
  • Root: we've updated the rooting mechanism, which could potentially increase the success rate of Qualcomm and MTK Root procedures (further developments are coming soon)
  • Huawei: added a new warning message for Huawei ID & FRP Remove procedure when we can't start the Factory Reset automatically
  • Core: now we're suggesting a default extract destination in the Firmware extractor of the Utility panel

Bugfixes:

  • Samsung: fixed the Auto Detect feature for newer phones on the Firmware Update panel
  • Core: fixed various bugs in the generic file downloader
  • Core: fixed a bug which could cause crashes during application start if specific Anti-Virus softwares were used
